handheaters.net and handwarmers.com owners, INTRODUCE.. Alexa, who is a Competitive Figure Skater! GRABBER WARMERS has always been part of her equipment during training!
To Whom It May Concern: Re: Donation/Sponsorship for ALEXA ALPERN Hello, and thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Alexa Alpern and I am a competitive Figure Skater - age 15; training at the University of Delaware and under bylaws of the United States Figure Skating Association. As prominent community members and business owners; I want to educate you on the sport of figure skating. Deciding to become a Figure Skater; you have to love the sport and want to seriously train, making it a career. I have accomplished this part over the years. I am competitively training at one of the top training rinks in the country - University of Delaware. (Home rink of the USA and World Champion, Kimmie Meissner, along with many other champions). My Head Coach, Ron Ludington, is a former Olympian and Head of The University of Delaware Ice Skating Science Development Center for Figure Skaters. He has been named to the United States and Worlds’ Hall of Fame. Mr. Ludington has coached skaters in nine consecutive Olympics plus thirty-six World Championships. Mr. Ludington took me on as a student, after only three months of being in the sport. Additionally, I train with Barbara Role WilIiams, who is a National, World and Olympic Coach and also an Olympic Medalist. Figure skating has so many intricate parts to be successful that I also train with other elite coaches, to cover all what is expected in the sport. I am a reliable, productive and enthusiastic person who follows through on goals, that I have set for myself. While I grow and excel with each passing day, my drive and love for the sport are endless. I have the heart, confidence and perseverance that gives me the driving force for success. Presently, I am a free style skater at the Novice Level, training a short and long program for each competitive season. My coaches are working on a variety of triples, the double axel, senior moves (which develops edge technique and is the last test in a series of eight required) and additional required elements on a daily basis. My training consists of hours of practice, tests, competitions, off ice training, ballet, Pilates, and strength/conditioning; while all preparing me to reach my dreams of reaching the top, a reality. My future plans are to attend a University, majoring in Marine Biology with a second focus in Graphic Arts. Besides attending high school and training my sport, I am also enrolled in a home base art school, that will earn me twenty-four credits towards college. Presently, I am involved with a joint endeavor between New England Amateur Skating Foundation and my parents, to seek possible donations/sponsorship, to help support and off set the continuous expenses that go along with my career. My PARENTS: Alexa has always been a very athletic child from early on and we feel that she certainly has the athleticism that is needed to climb the ladder of success. As an athlete, she aspires towards perfection and as a student, she excels with accomplishments in many avenues of education. Alexa’s dedication to training, endurance and inner strength are a never-ending quest. Her long term goals are to compete at the United States Nationals while short term goals are to continue to train well and extensively for each competitive season. We once had a coach tell us, that Alexa is in charge of driving the horse upwards and she is doing just that. This is what separates an athlete with this kind of spirit, from a competitor to one that is in it for recreational fun. Page 2 Alexa began her athleticism with gymnastics and did extremely well until, our family opened up a hockey/figure skating sport shop in Maryland. Our family noticed; Alexa found a new love in the world of figure skating in a competitive spirited way. A funny thing happened along this path. She developed a drive for a serious career choice of competing, performing and enjoying the sport immensely. Her strength, energy and devotion are just limitless which led into us hiring a private coach to develop this journey. Presently, this journey has become a way of life for Alexa and the family. We know as parents, that when you are a competitor in the skating world; you discover all what this does for an athlete. Competing helps map out a foundation for future goals and accomplishments. The exposure that a figure skater develops gives joy and exceptional life experiences. Unfortunately, the downside of figure skating though, are the continuous expenses that go along with rising upwards. Many talented and hard-working figure skaters are forced to leave the sport due to the extreme financial demands. Annual training and competition expenses for a skater ranges between $40,000 and $60,000 a year. This includes coaches fees, choreography, yearly ice fees, off ice training, dance classes, sports medicine, club dues, equipment including boots, blades, clothing and costumes; competition travel, hotel fees and more. The list just goes on. We are seeking individuals and business help, for financial assistance with donations and or sponsorship. The mission of the New England Amateur Skating Foundation (NEASF) is to help competitive skaters by defraying some of their ever increasing expenses. This Foundation is a tax exempt organization, under section 501(c)(3) that offers the opportunity to sponsor a skater, who needs extra financing .**Donations are accepted from both individuals and corporations************************************************************* Your support, would mean the world to Alexa, while enabling her to focus on reaching her goals and objectives.
